Beginner Intensive

What to Expect

New to clay or circling back after a long break? This 6-week course will walk you through the fundamentals—centering, shaping, trimming, and glazing—at a pace that lets your confidence build week by week.

You’ll start by making your very first piece and end by comparing it to your final creation—proof of your progress, wobbles and all. Includes clay, glazing, and firing for up to 3 pieces. Perfect for total beginners or returning ceramicists looking to reset their hands and eyes.

❋ Intentional Structure

We blend guided moments, open exploration, and space to reflect—so the experience feels both focused and fluid.

❋ Collaborative Energy

Connection is a core part of the process. You’ll learn just as much from the group as from the content itself.

❋ Expert Facilitation

Led by experienced guides who know how to hold space, encourage participation, and keep things moving with purpose.

❋ A Supportive Space

Our events prioritize comfort, safety, and respect—so you can show up as you are and fully engage in the process.

Reconnect your body and mind as you escape the noise of everyday life.

  • "Off Center is such a great place for your first steps into ceramics. My friends and I had a fantastic time learning with Moses - so patient and excited to teach, and such a pleasant atmosphere to just sit in and peacefully work. It’s a beautiful space and a really great group of instructors and I couldn’t recommend it more if you’re looking for a space to throw in Williamsburg."

  • "This place is beautiful and extremely well priced for what you’re getting compared to all the other studios in NY. It was my first time ever trying ceramic/wheel turning w clay and within the two hours made a full mug and even had time to paint it. It felt like pure therapy, meditation, really tests your focus and patient skills w yourself, very healing. I felt like a complete child."

  • "I can’t express how much I love this ceramics studio! I started with the 6-week beginner course and immediately signed up for a membership afterward — I was hooked. The studio has such a welcoming, creative energy; everyone here is incredibly friendly and supportive. Moses’s attention to detail ties everything together and makes the experience even more special. I love that I can spend hours working quietly on a piece, but if I ever need help, there’s always someone nearby to guide me. I truly feel so lucky to have found this place!"
